NCT 127 is officially back in comeback mode.
On July 27 at midnight KST, the group unveiled the first teaser for their upcoming seventh full-length album "BLINGY," which will be released on August 24 at 6 p.m. KST. The teaser, moody and stylish, marks the beginning of what promises to be a major promotional rollout for the group's first full album in some time.
A five-member comeback
This comeback will feature five members — Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, and Haechan — with Doyoung and Jungwoo currently serving their mandatory military service. While a smaller lineup than fans are accustomed to, NCT 127 has always maintained a reputation for adaptability, and the five remaining members are more than capable of carrying the album's weight.
The absence of Doyoung and Jungwoo changes the vocal and performance dynamics of the release, but it also creates space for other members to step into new roles. Taeyong's recent solo work, including his "TY TRACK - REMASTERED" releases and tour, has only sharpened his artistic identity, and his return to the group fold for "BLINGY" is likely to bring a new layer of creative direction to the project.
The significance of "BLINGY"
NCT 127's last full-length release set a high bar, and a seventh studio album signals a group deep into the second chapter of its career — one now shaped by the rotating availability of its members due to enlistment. Rather than pausing the group entirely, NCT 127 is pressing forward with a configuration that reflects the reality of the current moment.
The album title "BLINGY" hints at a bold, flashy sonic direction — fitting for a group whose identity has always included a streak of confident maximalism. If the teaser is any indication, the visual direction will match that energy.
What to expect from the rollout
With the August 24 release date now confirmed, fans can expect a full album rollout over the next month — concept photos, tracklist reveals, highlight medleys, and multiple music video teasers are all likely on the schedule. The first teaser is intentionally minimalist, establishing a mood without giving away too much, which suggests the full picture will be assembled piece by piece in the weeks ahead.
NCT 127 also has their fifth tour "NEO CITY – THE REDLINE" kicking off in September, which means "BLINGY" will serve as the centerpiece of those shows — a new album for a new chapter, performed live for the first time at KSPO Dome. It's a smart sequencing: album first, tour next, maximum impact.
